Pine Cone Party

Well life happens doesn't it, I'm no exception to the rule.  Since September I've been dealing with many family issues, seems when they hit they hit all at once.  So, needless to say, I haven't been painting much however I remembered this little pine cone painting from last year and thought it a good way to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.  I may post it in Daily Paintworks for sale next week if your interested.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Ladies Tea

Contact the artist if interested in purchasing - Acrylic, 8x10 on gessobord

Maybe I can get one more in my blog before it goes away!  I just finished this painting.  I've been wanting to paint an interior, especially one with light coming through windows.  A group of my artist friends celebrated someones birthday at this fun restaurant called "Mad Hatter's Cafe" close by.  They do a lot of tea parties.  I ran around snapping photos catching these two ladies having a tea party.  I had so much fun painting it that I will try another but larger.

Captured

On Hold - Acrylic on gessobord, 8x10 inches

I got lucky when capturing this gal taking the photo of these horses at a craft fair!  The expression from the horse indicates the lady has invaded his space, like Whoa lady back off.  These beautiful BIG work horses were giving wagon rides and they were really mild mannered, the lady must have rushed at them to get a quick shot.  Anyway I love the story in the painting.

As the google blog is going away soon, this probably will be my last post!  I will however continue to be on Daily Paintworks so visit me there.

Coffee Stop

Contact the artist if interested in purchasing - Acrylic on gessobord, 9x12 inches

I painted this probably a year ago and never posted it.  I wasn't satisfied with certain areas so I put it away in order to see it with new eyes.  Well life got busy and it was forgotten for a time.  I have a show coming up and wanted to include this piece so with new eyes adjustments were made that finally please me.  Love, Love, Love these umbrellas with the vintage bike, white picket fence and if you look closely you'll see a plastic flamingo.  This is a coffee shop in Colorado that I drove by and had to turn around to get a photo.

Played Out

Contact the Artist if interested in purchasing - Acrylic on gessobord, 8x8 inches

This may be my last blog!  Seems Google is closing down accounts, sad.  Not sure if I will start a new blog but it was fun while it lasted.  I still have my Daily Paintworks page for now so come and check out my work.  Just go into Daily Paintworks and do an artist search for Deborah Ann Kirkeeide.

Anyway, these are my Granddaughters old "played out" hightop tennies.  She told me they had once been black, amazing.  I just love the old beat up look and had her promise to give them to me when she replaced them.  I also did a pencil drawing which I posted not long ago.

To those of you who have followed my blog, thank you.  I appreciate you coming along on this journey.

Small Works Exhibition at Studio Pintura

Studio Pintura Artists  Small Works Exhibit
January 19th– March 2nd

Last night was the opening reception for Studio Pintura's Small Works Exhibition at the Northrup King Building in NE Minneapolis (https://studiopintura.com).  I have three paintings in the show and was at the reception last night where I met four women artists who are also in the show.  I love meeting and mingling with other artist's especially when they share and you learn new things, these women did not disappoint me, they were great to talk to.  Along with the exhibition, the Northrup King Building, which is a huge warehouse filled with artist studios and galleries, had an open studio night.  I wandered for a couple of hours enjoying many of the open studios, it was overwhelming to see such quality of art work in one place!  Below are two of my pieces right after I framed and had ready to go to the show, "This Little Pig" and "Rest Stop".  I'm really pleased at the way these little paintings look when mounted on larger boards.  Again not great photos but you get the idea, to see better photos go to my gallery page at Daily Paintworks.

Drawing Classes

I've been teaching drawing classes at the art center close by which has affected my paint time so I haven't been posting much.  On the positive side, I've been back drawing again and loving it.  I also love meeting new creative friends and helping them learn and improve their drawing skills.  Here's a photo of my class this past fall and one of my recent pencil drawings.

Intro class working on a still life set up.

Pencil sketch of my granddaughter's high top tennies on toned paper with white conte crayon highlights.  It's not a very good photo but you get the idea.
