"Once Upon A Time" Art Journal

Another mixed media art journal I completed this fall as a gift.  The backgrounds are all hand painted using acrylics and stamping.  I had fun incorporating old family photos and working some of them into color pages.  Every time I create an art journal new ideas emerge, I'm exploring more outside the box and growing.  I need to incorporate this freedom into my oil paintings.  Why do I feel so restricted when painting in oils?  It's time to start experimenting and maybe start using acrylics and oils together.  Hmmmm, another road to explore.

Summer Art Journal

I love these mixed media journals and they are very addictive.  And it's not that I haven't been creative this summer, just haven't been oil painting.  I worked on this journal to get my grand daughter creating a journal of her own so we could spend time creating together.  I loved watching the ideas she came up with.  It was a great time, I learn so much each time I create a journal and they get better.  I just finished one as a gift and it's the best one so far, I will post it later.

Sea Angels

While traveling to California recently I had fun making these little Sea Angels with my Granddaughter from driftwood found at the beach.  We carved circle faces and designs, glued broken shells like a mosaic, added string and incorporated Bible verses on some.  One even has a piece of sea glass shaped like a heart embedded in the body (the bigger one).  I was also working on an art journal and did a painting of one sea angel for a page (top photo).  Great fun and good memories!
