A Place To Rest

Original 8x8 inch acrylic painting on Ampersand Gessobord.  It took me over a year to find the courage to paint this photo reference.  This is one of those places where I long to live or even be able to visit.  I can just imagine sitting by the river with my paint and easel watching the geese with maybe a rowboat passing by.  The photo reference was found on pixabay.com and I should have taken note of the location.  My first attempt at painting this piece was not meeting my expectations.  Using my iPhone and taking a photo of the piece in progress always helps identify issues, so after reworking several areas I'm at peace.  Which is what I want this painting to reflect.

Sunset Drive

Original 6x6 inch acrylic painting on watercolor paper.  Finally feeling settled after my winter trip and making time to paint again.  I did this as a little practice piece and ended up loving how it turned out so I'm posting.  Catching light continues to be a fascinating subject pushing me forward to explore more challenges.

I will be posting this for sale in May when I open my Daily Paintworks gallery.  And thanks to pixabay for the great photo reference.

The Yellow House

This is a little 6x8" original acrylic painting on Ampersand gesso board that I finished recently.  I used a great photo reference from pixabay.com.  The orangish color is actually more of a pinky orange, funny how some colors don't translate very well but I love the captured light.  What a grand adventure it would be to visit this place and paint.

In May when I get my Daily Paintworks gallery up and running, I will post this for sale.

Pepper Radish graphite drawing

I'm in the middle of teaching my spring drawing class.  This was a value exercise we worked on today and there were lots of nice student drawings.  My class is a varied group, those with a lot of experience verses some with little experience so it's a challenge coming up with references that will challenge some yet have other options for those just starting on their journey.  I gave them the option to draw just the pepper or the whole still life.  This was one of my photo references that I set up in my studio which saves a bunch of time and allows me to get just what is needed.
